I have been using the Google AdSense Program to generate extra income online for some time now. I have gained a lot of experience from using the program. I feel it’s become necessary to share the pros and cons of the program with those that may be considering using it in this article. But first, I need to explain a bit what the program is.

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is an affiliate marketing program. In Google AdSense, Google acts as the intermediary between the affiliates and the merchants. Family support. Steve Vai grew up in New York in the 1960s. He started appreciating music at a very early age and was strongly supported by his family in his musical pursuits. His parents allowed him to take lessons from Joe Satriani in 1974 and he played in various bands and different musical projects as a youngster. After he finished high school, Vai was accepted into the Berklee College of Music. It was difficult for his family to come up with the funds to pay for his schooling, but they were so supportive of Steve’s music career that Steve’s father sold his life insurance policy in order to pay the tuition into Berklee. It is clear that Vai is still touched by the love and support from his father because he works closely with various charity organizations that help kids who have musical abilities but need financial help in order to pursue their aspirations.

Boldness. In 1979, Vai made an unsolicited transcription of popular rocker Frank Zappa’s “The Black Page”. He sent the transcription to Zappa along with a recording of his own guitar playing. He knew that Zappa had no clue who he was and was not expecting to receive a package from him. In spite of the unlikelihood that his efforts would lead anywhere, he sent the package to Zappa. When Frank Zappa saw the transcription and listened to the recording of Vai’s guitar playing, he hired Vai to transcribe more of his music. Eventually, Vai became a regular member of Zappa’s band and toured with the group in 1980. While he was touring with Zappa, he entertained audiences by challenging anyone in the crowd to bring him an unfamiliar musical score to see if he could sight read it on the stage. Of course he was very confident in his abilities and the audiences loved to interact with him.

Unabashed originality. Vai says, “I make music to push my own buttons. I’ve always been driven by an addiction to create sounds that are unique - not better than what other people do, just different.” Vai’s commitment to create music that is truly unique and to satisfy only himself with his musical attempts helped him to gain success. Vai has a unique sound on the guitar, because he is so dedicated to making music for himself and not just following what everyone else is doing. Passion and Warfare was one of the most successful albums of Vai’s career. Guitar World magazine appointed the guitar solo in the track “For the Love of God” as one of the top 100 guitar solos of all time. After the success of this album, Vai was quoted as saying:

“I didn’t know what people were going to think of that record, I just knew that I had to make it. I locked myself in the studio, and the music that had been building up in my imagination for years all came rushing out. Honestly, I thought the record was going to sell about 10 copies. Instead it went gold in a week.”

It is clear from Vai’s description of writing the music for Passion and Warfare that he was not concerned with the opinion of other people, but instead wrote music that truly inspired him. No matter how large or small your wedding budget is, you have the ability to be a trend setter! Consider a theme wedding.

Choosing a Theme

What activities are you interested in or involved in? What sorts of things do you collect? Are you planning on honeymooning in an exotic place? All of these offer ideas for a theme for your wedding and/or reception.

One of the most beautiful and memorable weddings I have attended was renaissance themed. The bride, groom, and their attendants rented renaissance period costumes instead of purchasing wedding attire. The guests were also invited to attend the wedding dressed in renaissance costumes. It was fabulous!

The Beach Theme

Maybe you love trips to the beach or are planning a destination wedding on a tropical island. Have you considered a beach themed wedding? Guests really enjoy beach themed weddings because they are more casual. It really is a party when you and your guests can celebrate such a joyous occasion in comfortable attire!

Picture it: the gentlemen are dressed in their khakis and brightly colored, printed shirts. The ladies are decked out in colorful dresses with flowers in their hair. The tables are decorated with seashells, hibiscus blossoms, and brightly colored candles. Palm trees have been perfectly placed to create a tropical look. The guests are enjoying grilled chicken, tropical fruits, a variety of cheeses, and icy cold drinks. The music is lively and festive and people are dancing and having a wonderful time.

The Nature Themed Wedding

Are you a nature enthusiast? Do you enjoy the great outdoors? Maybe an outdoor wedding in a park or beside a lake appeals to you. The reception could be held in a rustic lodge and the tables decorated with pine cones, tree leaves, and other items from nature. The wedding cake could be topped with live wedding flowers or silk flowers and a couple of artificial birds (available at your local craft store.)

The Butterfly Themed Wedding

Butterflies are symbolic of transformation or change. The butterfly theme is perfect for a second wedding because the bride and/or groom have left the troubles of a previous marriage and in many cases matured so that they are very different than they were before. Their lives have changed dramatically and that change has brought new happiness and vitality. This is truly a transformation for them… a new beginning!

The butterfly theme can be especially beautiful and inexpensive. This comes across as very classy if you don’t overdo it. It’s simply a matter of purchasing some silk butterflies from your local fabric or craft store and adding them to some fresh flowers for topping the cake, adding them to flower arrangements for the centerpieces or placing silk flower garland with a few of the butterflies down the center of each table and adding small dishes with brightly colored floating candles. Simplicity is the key!

Whatever theme you choose is sure to make your wedding day memorable for you and your guests and save you money at the same time. Remember to keep it a simple and elegant wedding. Don’t go overboard with your theme. Too much of even a good thing is never good. Work toward incorporating your theme while keeping the look classy.

With some creative planning on your part, a theme wedding can provide hours of fun and celebration for you and your guests, as well as fond memories to last a lifetime.
