I would like to firstly admit that I do have an IT degree and so can be considered an IT Specialist. So my natural instinct was to use my skills on the Internet and research possible online money making schemes. I was completely new to this and did not know what I was looking for; I started with basic search criteria such as work from home, online jobs etc. I was amazed by all the websites offering to make me rich by the morning! I have to admit I really believed most of them too.

However, I am one of those lucky ones that have made many wrong business decisions in the past and am a lot more cautious now than in my younger days. This was a MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing System); these systems are often indistinguishable from pyramid schemes in which commissions are paid to each seller based on the number of additional sellers that they can recruit. Now that might seem like a reasonable way to earn money for some, but the ones that really make a profit from this are the ones at the top of the pyramid. This is a competitive market and not always trustworthy, so if you do consider this a viable option, then really do your homework first. Personally I do not see why I have to pay to work for someone else! Also to be successful in this area you have to be a good salesperson and to be frank somewhat dishonest. These people never tell the whole truth to their potential customer and their sales pitch is full of empty promises. I am sorry if I offend anyone but even if I want to get rich it does not mean I have to make others poor; this is what most of these systems rely on!

Continuing with my research I discovered many sites promoting online surveys as an easy option to earn money online. You sign up to sites that conduct research for companies and you get paid for completing online questionnaires. These questionnaires can take up to 15 minutes to complete and then your account is credited. You can earn up to £200 per month filling out online surveys or giving your review of a product/service. The advantage of this method is that you do not have to payout any of your hard earned cash and you do not have to set up anything before hand. Obviously however, you can see that it will not make you rich but it can help fill some gaps in your finances. Another advantage is that you can do it at home, anytime of the day and it does not require any real effort. After a month of searching the internet, I am sad to say that I have come to the conclusion that there are more people out there ready to scam you than real opportunities. I guess at my age I should not be surprised by this however I am still disappointed that so many people have no morals or empathy for others.

But my search has given me an insight into how the Internet is Making Money for those who know, without having to scam others. I am realistic and honest, there are no quick fixes but there are some real online money making methods. They take time and effort to establish but so does any business. Babies cry for a number of reasons and trying to figure out why is no easy task. It’s important to understand though, that your newborn came from a womb rich with noises and sensations that gently comforted her for nine months. Now your baby finds herself in a cold, empty crib with no comforting, sensory information to keep her warm and lull her to sleep. She becomes restless and frustrated at not being able to go to sleep and cries out in distress.

Barring health issues such as colic and other disorders requiring medical attention, creating an environment in which your baby can feel comfortable and go to sleep takes a little ingenuity and creativity along with a lot of loving patience. Finding what soothes your child to sleep may take a lot of trial and error but eventually you will find what works.

For starters, you need to create a calming environment for your infant. Turn off the lights or at least dim them. No one likes to sleep with a light shining in their eyes. Limit the amount of toys in the crib and moving distractions like mobiles or crib lights. These often stimulate the child rather than create a sleepy hypnotic effect.

Since newborns are used to the noisy, rhythmic sounds of the mother’s womb, often times creating some gentle “white noise” will comfort your infant and eventually lull her to sleep. Many stores carry CDs with nature sounds and the like, that would be perfect for this. Gentle, peaceful music also may work. Believe it or not, but sometimes even running the vacuum cleaner will help settle your baby down.

Holding, cradling, and massaging your baby always has a positive effect. Never underestimate the human touch! Your infant will feel secure and loved. And everyone loves a good massage! Gently stroke or rub her arms and legs. Another effective technique can be utilizing skin to skin contact. Laying your naked baby on your bare stomach or chest creates a soothing bond of warmth. Giving your baby a warm bath or holding her while you relax in a warm tub might be all it takes to calm her down and stop the crying.

Take your baby for a walk. A change of scenery may be all she needs to calm her down. Carry her in your arms as you walk around the house, or better yet, get some exercise and take walk down the block. A short road trip and the hum of a car engine might also do the trick if nothing else seems to work. There’s a good chance she’ll be all tuckered out by the time you get home and ready for a good night’s sleep.

Whatever you do, you need to remain calm and be patient. If you become distressed your infant will sense it and it will only escalate her level of distress. Finding the right solution may take time but eventually you will find it.

Let’s dwell a little on the properties of wood as a material for your decorative bird house construction.

First, wood has good insulating properties. Choose wood that is at least three quarter inches thick to maximize its insulation benefits so that your nesting birds will be nesting in a comfortable temperature in your birdhouse.

Second, although wood is naturally durable, some woods are better then others at resisting decay. Since your birdhouse will be going through rain and shine everyday, you should pick a wood that is more decay resistant so that it will be longer lasting. Ideal material choices for wooden bird house will be cedar, redwood or bald cypress.

If you have an existing birdhouse that is made up of pine or plywood, you can coat it with a water-based exterior latex paint. Be sure to only coat the exterior of the birdhouse and not the interior or the birdhouse entrance. Usually, coating the exterior with a dull, earth-tone color will be sufficient to keep the boards from rotting.

Why do we recommend painting the birdhouse exterior with a dull, earth-tone color ? Well, a earth-tone color will not absorb heat as much as a darker or more striking color. Different colors absorbs different amounts of heat. Darker colors tend to absorb more heat and as a result, it becomes warmer. Light, earth-tone colors reflect more light and so the surface feels cooler. Another reason why we recommend painting your birdhouse a dull, earth-tone color because it is less likely to attract predators to your birdhouse.

Regardless of the colors that you chose for your birdhouse, you should never use paints that contain lead or use any harmful chemicals like varnish on the wood surfaces of the birdhouse. Wood surfaces, due to their inherent properties, will tend to break down and chip off after being exposed to the natural weather elements. If the birds accidentally ingest one of the wood chips that is covered with toxic paints or have been treated with harmful chemicals, the bird may die of poisoning. If you do need to treat the wood, use non-petroleum based, naturally occuring oils like linseed oil. Petroleum based liquids tend to stick on the bird’s feathers, causing them to be wet and sticky and as a result, it will make it very difficult for the birds to make a quick escape when a predator is near.

Next, to put everything together, you can either glue the wood pieces together or you can nail them together. If you want the birdhouse to last longer, glue the wood pieces first then nail them. However, one thing to note is that, none of your nails should not be sticking out. Nails exposed to the rain will gradually become rusty. When birds accidentally cut themselves on the exposed nail, it will be seriously injured. Moreover, when humans accidentally get cut by the nails, they may also get an infection from the rust.

For the interior of the birdhouse, you should consider placing some rough sawn wood to act as a “ladder” to make it easier for the nesting birds to get in and out of your birdhouse. Most birdhouse are quite small in size and since wood has a smooth texture, sometimes it is hard for the birds to get out of the birdhouse. You can also consider making small notches on the inside of the front face of the birdhouse which can also make the birdhouse more bird-friendly.

Planning Your Brainstorming Session

So how can you successfully brainstorm with a group of people? First, you need to understand that brainstorming sessions should be relatively short. Get your team’s best ideas on the table, and then stop brainstorming so you can analyze the responses.

When brainstorming, remember that all ideas are accepted. Have a white board or poster where you write the ideas, and do not judge them when they are presented. You will have plenty of time to decide, after your brainstorming on which ideas you like and which ones you would rather ignore. The brainstorming session is the time to collect ideas.

Some of the best marketing plans were developed from ideas that seemed silly when they were first presented, so avoid making quick judgments. Write down any idea or word that is offered by the members of your team.

Your brainstorming session should have a specific goal. You may not want to tell your team members the end goal, but you need to know what it is. This goal can be something simple, such as developing a slogan to use on your next business card printing, or it can be something a little more complex, such as developing a new logo to define your business.

Once you know where you are going with the brainstorming session, decide how you are going to elicit responses from your team members. For sure the internet has now proven itself in B2C marketing and many companies have moved a whole chunk of their budget online. One of our clients told us recently that if it was not for their online spend then her business would be decimated. Although we have a good relationship with this client, you can imagine the dropped jaws when we learned that our efforts were basically delivering 80% of their business.

But what of every other business? What about the engine of the advertising world in the form of B2B marketing. Traditionally businesses rely on above the line marketing, sales teams, networking, assorted trade advertising initiatives, the good old ‘yellow pages’ and a plethora of individual outlets. Surely the Internet cannot replace all of this.

Well the answer is ‘unlikely’. It is very unlikely that the web regardless of its cost effectiveness can replace the skill of a well informed sales team or the savvy and business acumen of a marketing executive with industry knowledge. The internet just like TV and radio is basically only a medium. What gives the Web the edge in B2B marketing from here on in it the ability to deliver information which until this point required print to individual potential customers and existing customers. Recently our business decided to upgrade our aging network infrastructure. Now for an internet marketing company this is a business critical purchase decision. Our car buyer would have the tools but certainly did not have the education to compare, review, question and blog.

Todays car buyer (who is essentially the same guy or girl) is a lot more savvy. Nobody in their right mind would part with their hard earned cash for a new motor without reviewing the options open to them online in-depth. What more they not only review the product but also the seller, compare the price and will even drive for a better bargain.

This is now also beginning to work its way into B2B with buyers researching new suppliers online before even asking for a quote. A bad review online can spell lost business for your business if you are a hotel or an online electrical retailer but it might spell absolute disaster for your business in five years time if you are trying to attract buyers who will ignore you if you have no online information and practically blacklist your company if they see the odd bad review, blog or forum post.

What you will now need (and sooner rather than later since it can take six months to get right) is a new breed of marketer. A marketer savvy in the ways of the internet, A marketer who will research your online visibility and increase your ‘buy score’. Remember, new customers will know absolutely nothing about your company other than what others tell them. Just like the current comparison shoppers in B2C they will also have an extreme propensity to believe every bad word they see on their screen whether true or false.

The new B2B marketing environment is beginning people! A mixture of organic and purchased traffic can turn you business now into an absolute monster if you know what you are doing… or if you hire the skills of those who do! Of course I can say that easily since I have 13 years online marketing experience and I’ve seen it twice before. But most of us will only realize it when our sales team lose a new client to the competition for what looks like no good reason, only later to find out that our online ‘buy score’ is pretty bad based on some rather nasty looking reviews.

Ohh yes.. the days of that foggy comfort blanket over your business whether bad or good are disappearing and in a few short years you will have to stand naked before your market and hope the competition which you know to be off weaker stuff than your business isn’t sporting an online sixpack like Adonis or the body of Venus whilst you stand cross legged and shivering like Homer J Simpson!
